Das ist Kadiki kurz nach ihrer Rettung. Das kleine Elefantenm\u00e4dchen wurde von einem L\u00f6wen attackiert und verlor einen Teil ihres Schwanzes. Zum Zeitpunkt des L\u00f6wenangriffs war Kadiki erst einen Tage alt und hatte noch nicht einmal bei ihrer Mutter trinken k\u00f6nnen. Dadurch fehlte ihr das wichtige Kolostrum, das Elefantenbabys mit der Muttermilch aufnehmen. Dass es Kadiki trotz dieser Tatsache und ihrem geringen Geburtsgewicht von 66 kg geschafft hat, ist ein riesiger Meilenstein f\u00fcr die Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery und ein Erfolg f\u00fcr den ganzheitlichen Ansatz, den man hier bei der Aufzucht der Elefantenwaisen verfolgt.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is Kadiki shortly after her rescue. The little elephant girl was attacked by a lion and lost part of her tail. At the time of the lion attack, Kadiki was only one day old and had not even been able to drink from her mother. As a result, she lacked the important colostrum that baby elephants take in with their mother’s milk. That Kadiki made it despite this fact and her low birth weight of 66 kg is a huge milestone for the Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery and a success for the holistic approach they take to raising elephant orphans here.<\/span><\/p>\n
