Seine Geschichte begann schon drei Wochen vor seiner Rettung.<\/p>\n<p>Am 5. Juli 2023 wurde der Kadaver einer milchgebenden Elefantenkuh im <strong>Pardamat<\/strong>-Schutzgebiet gefunden, das Teil der Mara-Region im Westen Kenias ist. Die Elefantenkuh war an Speerwunden gestorben \u2014 wieder ein Opfer des Mensch-Wildtier-Konflikts, der in dieser Gegend immer wieder aufflammt. Da die Elefantenkuh Milch hatte, war klar, dass sie erst vor relativ kurzer Zeit ein Kalb zur Welt gebracht hatte. Dieses Baby war aber nirgends zu sehen, so dass das Schlimmste zu bef\u00fcrchten war.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/txBpnfrh16Y\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Eine Woche sp\u00e4ter tauchte ein einj\u00e4hriges Kalb ganz allein in einer Maasai-Siedlung auf. Als Ranger an dieser Stelle ankamen, hatte sich der Mini-Bulle schon einer Elefantenherde in der N\u00e4he angeschlossen. Die Ranger hofften, dass es sich doch nicht um ein Waisenkalb handelte, sondern dass es zu einer der K\u00fche geh\u00f6rte. Am 28. Juli erreichten die Ranger weitere Berichte \u00fcber ein verwaistes Kalb. Es waren keine wilden Elefanten in der N\u00e4he, und das Baby versuchte immer wieder, in die Siedlung zu gelangen. Vom KWS kam umgehend gr\u00fcnes Licht f\u00fcr eine Rettungsaktion. Als die Keeper vom Waisenhaus des SWT gelandet waren, erwartete sie ein erstaunliches Bild: Das kleine Elefantenbaby wartete eingepackt auf der Ladefl\u00e4che des Land Cruiser \u2014 es hatte seine herzf\u00f6rmigen Ohren weit aufgestellt und streckte den Keepern zur Begr\u00fc\u00dfung den R\u00fcssel entgegen. Als er am Morgen aufgewacht war, hatte es noch schlecht f\u00fcr ihn ausgesehen, aber als es Abend wurde, konnte er es sich schon in einem Stall in Nairobi gem\u00fctlich machen! Er hat vermutlich schreckliche Angst gehabt, war einsam und kurz vorm Verhungern. Er f\u00fchlt sich am wohlsten in der N\u00e4he seiner Keeper, wenn er an ihren Fingern nuckeln kann. Seine Artgenossin <strong>Ahmed<\/strong> hat ihn schon &#8222;adoptiert&#8220;, \u00a0als w\u00e4re er ihr eigenes Baby! Das ist bemerkenswert, denn bevor <strong>Pardamat<\/strong> ankam, hatte sie keinerlei Mutterinstinkte gezeigt. Aber dank seines aufgeschlossenen und freundlichen Charakters hat er sich auch schon hervorragend mit <strong>Taroha<\/strong> und auch <strong>Talek<\/strong> angefreundet.
